1. Introduction of Organization
Himalaya Social Development Center (HSDC)) is non-profit, non-governmental social development organization founded by a group of enthusiastic professional social and development workers of Jajarkot district, and those from diverse geographical, social and cultural groups. The organization is established in 2055 BS. HSDC is registered under Society Registration Act, 1977 AD in District Administration Office, Jajarkot with registration number 38/055-056 and also affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC) with 10062. HSDC is a leading member of National Federation of NGOs in Nepal (NFN). Since its establishment, it has been operational to achieve its stated objectives in the areas of political, social and economic transformation through community mobilization, community empowerment, agriculture development, physical infrastructure development, bio-diversity and environment promotional activities.
HSDC works with the people and the communities especially the poor, most deprived, disadvantaged and marginalized, social mobilization, agriculture and environment promotion, small infrastructure development as means of empowerment of local community. Beside, social mobilization education and empowerment, capacity building of community-based organizations, it strive for environment management, inclusive democracy and local development, community health and sanitation, social justice and peace building, just economic development. It intervenes through the institutional and leadership development, skill and technology transfer, conservation and environment management, social and political dialogues for restructuring existing institutions and influencing policies and processes, business and market development, public-private partnership and macro-micro rural-urban linkage, good governance, human resource and infrastructure development. Moreover, HSDC has been facilitating the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized people for local resource mobilization, enterprise development, income generation and other self-reliant development of targeted people and communities.
