Nucleus for Empowerment through Skill Transfer (NEST) is a national level professional nongovernmental organization based in Pokhara. NEST is established during 2003 and is registered (Registration No. 1151) in District Administration Office in Kaski and affiliated (Affiliation No. 15619) with Social Welfare Council during the established year. It is also registered under the Internal Revenue Department (PAN No. 301697831) in a VAT system. NEST envisions of being preeminent and proficient NGO committed to uplift socio-economic status of poor and socially excluded people in Nepal through implementation of different social and development programme and projects, community mobilization and triggering, capacity enhancement, research and advocacy.
since its inception, Nest has been consistently involving in providing capacity development activities on various dimensions ranging from comunity organization development, leadership development, and community mobilization to income generating activities including high value agriculture crops, value chain analysis and enterpreneurship, agriculture livestock, foresty and climate change to drinking water and sanitation.It aims to develop the capacity of poor and disadvantaged people as well as of governmental and non- governmental functionaries and other development partners through training and awareness building and advocacy.
The organization has well established governance and programme management system. It has 51 (M=37 and F=14) general assembly members followed open and inclusive membership distribution approaches and has an Executive Committee with 9 members (M= 6 and F=3) elected through democratic process as well as 3 advisors, 4 core staffs (M=2 and F=2) and 9 programme/project staffs ( F=9) and more than 20 expert consultants in roster for implementation and management of institutional, programme/project and training activities. NEST has also provision of different functional thematic sub-committees on account, monitoring and evaluation, fund raising, material and service procurement sub-committee and programme management committee (PMC) as per the need.
NEST conducts more than 15 short and long term trainings annually under the different themes. NEST conducts various types of demand based trainings to GOs, I/NGOs, CSOs and various organizations. NEST has multi-sectoral and multidisciplinary professional team to carry-out capacity building and consultancy services and has maintained the roster of potential and competent resource persons to facilitate different thematic trainings and consultancy activities.As such it carried-out different consultancy activities like strategic planning, practicing social accountability tools, and training manual development including GESI audit, social audit and good governance practices. It is guided from its own constitution, strategic plan (2016-2020) with focus on different thematic areas development. For smooth execution of program and project, NEST has formed different policies and guidelines such as financial administration and personnel administration regulations, good governance and GESI guidelines, internal rules and regulations guideline including more than 30 publications in agriculture, livestock and development. It has own land with 3 story office building equipped with furniture and office materials including one Toyota 4 drive pickup, power back up, one library around 5000 books.
